Our collaborations with communities throughout Cincinnati and the Shirati Region of Tanzania, East Africa have created sustainable solutions to the pressing needs of Tanzanians and unique, invaluable learning opportunities to hundreds of Cincinnatians each year.

1st Brigade
First October Brigade travels to Tanzania.

Nutrition Project
Initiation of Nutrition Project that feeds 1,200 Tanzanian schoolchildren daily and teaches Cincinnati students about nutrition.

Roche Health Center
Roche Health Center opens, providing the first-ever access to permanent health care for over 20,000 residents.

Construction of Primary School
In partnership with Engineers Without Borders—UC Chapter, Kingigoro Primary School opens in Burere Village.

Initiation of Mama Maisha
Our safe motherhood intervention program.
2015
Phase 2 of Well Project Complete
In partnership with Engineers Without Borders—UC Chapter, we completed phase 2 of the well project in Nyambogo.
2017
Expansion of Nutrition Project
The Uji Nutrition Project has expanded to all primary schools in Roche, Nyambogo, and Burere- feeding over 2,500 Tanzanian school children each school day.

Second Phase of Staff Housing Complete & Hiring Clinical Officer at Roche Health Center
Clinical Officer Erik is able to provide life saving medical care to villagers on a daily basis.
2018
Partnership with University of Cincinnati 1819 Innovation Hub
Village Life joins industry giants such as Cincinnati Bell and P&G in this innovative space, bringing a global perspective to the Uptown Innovation Corridor.
2019
Completion of Clean Water Infrastructure
In partnership with the University of Cincinnati chapter of Engineers Without Borders, clean water systems are now in place in all three Village Life partner villages.

Maternal & Child Health Initiatives in Tanzania
A gift of $1 million from the Anna and Harold Huffman Foundation will support Village Life maternal and child health initiatives in Tanzania

UC Health Investment Renewal
UC Health renews their initial investment in Village Life with another $500,000.

M. Anne Haire Reproductive Child Health Center
Construction on the M. Anne Haire Reproductive Child Health Center begins, bringing employment and development to Roche and surrounding communities.
